Local Incentives

  • Tax Increment Financing (TIF) - The Community Redevelopment Authority is authorized to provide financial assistance to businesses locating in designated areas of Grand Island.
  • Incentive Utility Rates (LB 828) - Gives the utility companies in Nebraska the ability to negotiate lower rates for large business customers.
  • Nebraska Redevelopment Act (LB 830) - Allows cities to declare land within six miles of the city limits blighted, thus property taxes on the improvements can be used to reimburse the company for land purchase and project development.
  • Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act (LB-840) - Authorizes incorporated cities and villages to appropriate and spend local sales and property tax revenues for certain economic development purposes.
