Work Force
Grand Island / Hall County offers employers a large, well-educated workforce. New employers are likely to draw their labor resources from a combination of employed residents, including those who are underemployed residents interested in working. Residents are eager to acquire new skills, as a significant pool of residents, both employed and unemployed, are interested in training for career advancement. The county's prevalent occupational skill sets include service-related, clerical, and sales, primarily in the service, manufacturing, and retail trade sectors. Companies will benefit from a highly productive, dedicated workforce exhibiting a strong work ethic coupled with a minimal threat of unionization. As a right-to-work state and community, only two companies report their workforces being represented by one or more unions. It is highly likely that new companies settling in the county would locate in or near the City of Grand Island because of its higher population density and because it is the county's business service and retail center.
