The NorthWestern Energy historically has had rates that are among the lowest in the nation. Our natural gas system includes approximately 8,000 miles of transmission and distribution pipelines and storage facilities serving 168 communities and surrounding rural areas in Montana, South Dakota and central Nebraska. The South Dakota and Nebraska energy operations provide natural gas distribution services to approximately 84,500 natural gas customers in the eastern half of South Dakota and in four Nebraska municipalities.
