Environment

The climate of South Central Nebraska is a continental climate characterized by wide fluctuations in temperature from summer to winter. Average daily temperatures in central Nebraska range from 26° F in winter to 75° F in the summer. Temperatures can reach extremes of less than -20° to over 100°.

The total average annual precipitation is 26 inches. Of this total approximately 19 inches will come in the form of rain during the spring and summer months. The balance of the precipitation typically comes in the form of snow with an average annual snowfall of 31 inches.
